The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857. For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.
With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!
Becoming a MemberIn 2015 Liz Bedford climbed her last of the 50(ish) 4000m peaks of the Alps, becoming the second British woman to do so. She is still not sure how she got to this point, perhaps she is just living proof that if you keep climbing long enough you can do anything. Her talk will cover thoughts about lists, learning and loving mountains. Hopefully, it may offer something to both the experienced and less experienced alpinist or at least some pretty photos.
