The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857. For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.
With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!
Becoming a MemberGlen Coe: 11th and 12th January 2020
Building on the success of the last 2 years winter meets there is an ACG winter meet based out of the Lagangarbh hut (directly below Buachaille Etive Mor) on the weekend of the 11/12th of January (nights of the 10th/11th).
The meet is aimed at those who are members of the ACG or those Full AC members who are competent climbers with experience of winter climbing in Scotland.
The hut is on the walk in to the Buachaille, so you can start your day straight from the hut if climbing there with quick access to the other crags in Glen Coe. In previous years we have paired people up with people they haven't climbed with before (who climb at a similar standard) to great success.
Fingers crossed for good conditions. You need to be a member of the Alpine Club to join the meet and it is £15 per person per night (i.e. £30 for the weekend). Like other meets we will do a communal meal on the Saturday night.
