Tuesday 25 November 2025, 07:30pm - 09:30pm
Tuesday 25 November 2025

Junko Tabei – Have you heard of her? A woman largely hidden in the shadows of history, a quiet yet fierce icon in the mountaineering world.

Though her name is unfamiliar to many, her legacy is profound. From a frail infant in post-war Japan to becoming the first woman to summit Mount Everest, Junko's journey is one of quiet determination and groundbreaking achievement. In this talk, Jo Bradshaw will delve into Junko's life—her resilience, her pioneering climbs, and the powerful example she set for generations of women and men in the mountains and beyond.
